What Romanians need to know when traveling to exotic places

Bucharest, March 6th. Kiwi.com, a leading travel-tech company, is committed to making travel accessible to everyone, everywhere. However, as much as we like to think about traveling as a perfect experience, accidents can happen at any time. To cater to this need, the company has partnered with AXA Partners CEE, a travel insurance specialist, allowing travelers to secure coverage seamlessly when purchasing tickets. For a small cost, travelers everywhere get to save a small fortune in the long-run.

The collaboration also aligns with the growing interest of Romanian travelers in exotic getaways.

According to Kiwi.com’s booking data for 2024, the most popular long-haul destinations show a preference of Romanian travelers to more exotic places. The most popular distant countries among them are Spain (its islands in the Atlantic Ocean, notably), Thailand, Maldives, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. Canada, Japan and the United States are some other popular destinations. The most popular cities include Tenerife, Malé, Toronto, Las Palmas, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Denpasar, Phuket City, Colombo, and Manila.

According to AXA, 10 years ago, the majority of recorded health issues during the winter were from skiers traveling to winter destinations. However, the latest data reveals a significant shift, with a 50% increase in recorded cases, evenly split between the mountains and captivating exotic destinations like Bali, the Dominican Republic, Zanzibar, Cape Verde, Maldives, Seychelles, UAE, Dubai, and Oman. The shift indicates that more people choose exotic destinations over skiing during the winter season.

In warm destinations, most common health issues are tonsillitis, allergies, gastroenteritis or other stomach issues.
